22-3 Offering Room Service
Scene: Mr Bellow is phoning in hisroom.
B: (To the telephone operator) Room Service Section, please.
Room Service (RS) : Good morning. This is Room Service. What can I do for you?
B: Will you please send breakfast to my room?
RS: Certainly, we will, sir.Would you tell us your room number, please?
B: Nine-oh-two.
RS: What will you order,American breakfast or Continental breakfast?
B: Just American breakfast, please.
RS: With coffee or tea, sir?
B: Coffee, please.
RS: Orange juice or grapefruit?
B: Orange juice.
RS: For two. How long will it take?
RS: About 15 minutes. Please wait for a short while.
B: Okay, thank you.
(15 minutes later, a waiter delivers breakfast to Rm 902. He rings the door bell first.)
B: (From inside) Come in, please.
W: Good morning, sir. I've brought your breakfast here.
B: Oh, thank you.
W: Here's the breakfast you've ordered, sir.
B: O.K. Just put it on the table, please.
W: Yes, sir. Besides, I have brought you an English newspaper-China Daily-to read at breakfast.
B: That's very nice of you.
W: Don't mention it. Would you like something more besides the American breakfast?
B: No, thanks. My wife is not feeling very well today.
W: I am sorry. I'll inform the room attendant and send for a doctor.
B: Thank you for your service. Would you sign the bill, Mr Bellow?
(Bellow signs the bill.)
W: Thank you, Mr Bellow. See you soon.
