1-2  Chinese and Foreign Wines

Scene: The bartender (BT) isintroducing the wines the bar has to Mr. Frank (F).

BT: Good evening, Mr. Frank.Bourbon on the rocks?

F: No, this time I’ll try Chinese wine.

BT: Do you care for something a little stronger?

F: No. What else can you suggest?

BT: What about Mao Tai, one of the most famous liquors in China?  It’s good indeed , it never goes to  the head.

F: Do people here drink a lot of liquors?

BT: Some do, some don’t. Many people in the north are fond ofliquors. I think it has something to do          with the climate.

F: Yes, it has. Some Mexicans are crazy. They drink a lot of liquorseven on lot days. Have you ever          heard “Tequila Sanza”?

BT: Yes, its very well-known kind of spirits in Mexico.

    People drink it with saltand lemon.

F: Right.It’s very strong. Just like alcohol. (Frank sips Mao Tai) Oh, it’s good. Are there any other

  famous Chinese liquors?

BT: Yes, besides Mao Tai, for liquors we have Wu Liang Ye, Feng Jiu,Xi Feng and so on.

F: They say that Shao Xing wine tastes quite good. What’s it?

BT: It’s rice wine, a kind of still wine, somewhat like JapaneseSark.Shao Xing is a place in China.

F: I see.

BT: By the way, we also have some good red wine and white wine, suchas Changyue Red Wine and

    Great Wall White Wine.

F: Thank you for telling me so much. I’ll try them next time.

BT: I’m always at your service.
