Baby-sitting Service

Introduction

For the guests, our hotel is a “home away from home”. So they want to feel as comfortable as at their own home. And to make this feeling come true, they will have many kinds of needs. This class I will give you two more scene about the guests’ special services.

                                                    11-3  About Baby-sitting Service

Scene: A guest( G) who wants to have baby-sitting service is talking to the room attendant(RA).

G: Will you please do me a favor?

RA: Certainly, if I can do it.

G: My husband and I want to go out this evening. So, can youlook after the baby for us? It is till midnight.

RA: I see. But I am afraid that is not possible. It is against our hotel regulations for me to do this service, as attendants can not do their jobs and look after children properly at the same time.

G: What shall I do, then?

RA: Dont worry, madam. Our Housekeeping Department has a very good baby-sitting service. There are some sparetime babysitters under theRoomCenter

G: Are they……eh…… experienced?

RA: Yes, madam. They are all well-educated and reliable

G: I have trust in you Chinese friends. Now could you tell me about the terms ofthis service?

RA: It is 10 yuan RMB an hour, for a minimum of 4 hours.

G: That is veryreasonable

RA: If you ask the Housekeeping, they will give you more details and send a confirmation form for you to sign.

G: All right. I will phone them right away. Thank you.

RA: (She returns 10 minutes later.)

Excuse me, madam. May I ask you to sign this confirmation form? Thank you. I hope  I haven’t  disturbed you.

G: Not at all.  (Signing the form)   Here you are.

RA: Thank you, madam. Good night and have a pleasant evening, madam.

11-4  Asking for an Extra Bed

RoomCenterClerk(C):  Room Center. May I help you?

Guest(G):  Yes. I am Mr. Grown in Room 1108. My Chinese student Xiaodong ispaying a visit to me. We seem to have a lot of important things to talk about. I would like him to stay for the night, so I need an extra bed.

C: I understand. But you have to go to the receptionist for permission

G: Why should I go there?  Aren’t you in charge of it?

C: This is the hotel policy: the receptionist should have you go through certainformalities. The hotel will charge you for an extended bed.

G: I see. How much will that be?

C: One hundred Yuan RMB for a night.

G: OK. I will accompany my student to go to thereception  right away.
