4-3 Introducing some scenicspots 介绍景点 Scene: The Bellows plan to go around town. The concierge (C) gives them some suggestions. C: Goodmorning, sir and madam. How may I help you? Mr. Bellow(B):Good morning! Today we can afford a whole day for sightseeing. Could you tell us some places of historical interest in Shanghai? C: Have you ever been in Shanghai before? B: No, this is our first trip here.
C: I’m very pleased to suggest that you go to visit the Yu Yuan Garden, the Jade Buddha Temple, and the World ExpoPark, the main attractions in Shanghai. They are often visited by foreign guests.
Mrs.Bellow(M): Let’s forget the temple. What can we expect to see in the garden and in the park?
C: Built over 400 years ago, the Yu Garden is of typical Chinese national style and called the pearl of Shanghai. The park is specially constructed for theExpo 2010 in Shanghai. Covering an area of 29 hectares, it is full of exotic flavors and gives you a feeling of returning to nature.
B: Great! We will have a good chance to feast our eyes.
C: Both places sound worth visiting. Henry, let’s go.
4-4 Showing the way 指路
Scene: The Bellows are asking the way at the concierge’s desk.
Mr.Bellow(B): Could you tell me how to go to the Yu Garden?
Concierge(C): Yes, of course. The Yu Garden is within easy reach.You may take No. 27 trolley bus opposite to our hotel and get off at SichuanRoad. Go ahead along the road and turn left at the first crossing. Then go straight on until you find the second crossing. Turn right and cross the square, then you will find it.
Mrs.Bellow(M): Henry, it seems too complicated. We will get lost, I’m afraid. Shall we take a taxi?
B:All right. Let’s do so.
(To the concierge)
Could you call a taxi for us?
C:Yes, I′d be glad to.
(Asking the bellman to call a taxi for the Bellows.)
(Giving Mr Bellow a brochure)
There’s our hotel’s address on it. When necessary, show it to the taxi driver.
B: That’s very kind of you.
C: It’s my pleasure.
