Changsha to Complete Construction of Intercity Railway Station in 2016
With the alignment of intercity railways, the area surrounding Changsha Railway Station became a transportation hub involving general railways, intercity railways, metro lines, long-distance passenger transportation, and bus transfer in 2016.
An intercity railway station is constructed on the east side of Changsha Railway Station. The two stations is connected by a tunnel.
The 40-kilometer Changsha Section of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Railway has 12 stations, 8 of which are underground. The railway runs mostly under the ground, including the two controlling projects of Xiangjiang Tunnel and Shumuling Tunnel. To the north of the Changsha Railway Station, the underground section starts from Lei Feng Avenue in the east and passes eastward through the Xiangjiang Tunnel to reach the Sanxiang Nanhu Market on the south side of Liuyuan Road. To the south of the Changsha Railway Station, the 12.86-kilometer Shumuling Tunnel starts at Yangjiashan Community and ends at South Third Ring Road.
