For Your Information: Steve McCurry


Steve McCurry is a photojournalist from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He is internationally recognized and especially well-known for his photo “Afghan Girl”, which appeared on the front cover of National Geographic magazine in June 1985. McCurry has won many prestigious awards for his photography, including from the National Press Photographers’ Association and the World Press Photo Awards. His work has been featured in many major magazines worldwide, and he is a regular contributor to National Geographic. McCurry’s photos usually focus on people’s faces and what their faces tell about their lives.

Award-winning photographer Steve McCurry has spent over 30 years traveling the world and taking pictures of the people he meets. He has traveled to India many times and documented that country’s rich cultural diversity. In this video, McCurry discusses the people

and culture of Rajasthan—a state in northern India.
