What are part-time jobs?

Part-time jobs are quite popular among college students. According to a survey conducted by the Chinese Youth Survey Center in 2005, 33.9% college students took part-time jobs on campus such as librarian assistants, dining hall cleaners, etc., while the percentage of part-time job takers outside campus reached 59.2%, with tutor, deliverer, market researcher, receptionist, typist, promotion seller at the top of the job list.

The reasons for college students to take part-time jobs vary from person to person. Some take part-time jobs because they want to be financially independent; some hope to enrich their work and social experience so as to prepare themselves for the future job; others don’t have a good reason but just need to do something to keep busy. Anyway part-time jobs seem to have become part of college life.
