Production Functions: When starting the derivation of the production model, it is helpful to remind students what the terms ‘production’ and ‘technology’ mean in this context.  Production is the transformation of inputs into outputs.  Technology is more than just computers and robots; rather it describes the entire nature of a firm’s production process.  Other important terms that are introduced early in the discussion are short-run versus long-run and variable versus fixed inputs.
