Task 8  Listening & Interpretation        

        Listen to the five sentences twice and interpret each into Chinese.

1. Children who repeatedly suffer lunginfections have a greater chance of developing the disease as adults. Geneticsmay also play a part.

多次肺部感染的儿童更可能在成年期发病。遗传因素也可能起一部分作用。

2. Air pollution can also cause thedisease. Miners and others who work around some kinds of dust and chemicals areat higher risk.

空气污染也会引起此病。矿工和其他在粉尘和化学物质周围工作的人有更高的风险。

3. Seventy percent of people withasthma also have allergies. Allergies are unusual reactions of the body’simmune system to otherwise harmless substances or conditions.

4. Some of the early warning signs are acough that will not go away and an increase in mucus production. Another signis difficulty breathing after minor activity like walking up stairs.

5. When asthma is most severe, theperson may have extreme difficulty breathing. The disease can severely limit aperson’s activity, and even lead to death.
