Comprehensive skill -- Writing: paragraph writing (cause and effect)
Simply introduce the pattern of cause and effect to the students.
A cause is what makes something happen; an effect is what happens as a result of a cause. A cause-and-effect paragraph analyzes the causes or effects of a certain situation or event. Writing with the cause-and-effect pattern usually means first describing a cause and then explaining the effects, or first stating an effect and then the causes. In other words, a paragraph of this pattern may explain a series of causes or a series of effects.
Analyze the pattern of cause and effect in paragraph 9.
