2.1 Word-formation

It is of great significance that we should know something about word-forming methods and processes. In general, there are 7 common kinds of word formation, including derivation （派生法）, compounding or composition（复合法；合成法）; conversion, functional shift or transmutation  （转化法）；blending （拼缀法）; back-formation（逆生法）；sound imitation/onomatopoeia （拟声法）; formation of words by analogy （类比构词法）, which will be explained and illustrated respectively:
