A General Introduction to Romantic Period

This period was the second glorious period in British literature. English

romanticism was greatly influenced and stimulated by the French revolution. The major literary achievement was in the field of poetry. The brilliant poets of this period can be divided into 2 groups. One is the negative group, including William Wordsworth, Coleridge, and Southey; the other is the positive group, containing Shelley, Byron and Keats. There are two very significant and famous novelists: Walt Scott and Jane Austen.
