Warming  up

 
 

I. Give the students time to look at the  picture at the first page of Unit 9. And discuss the following questions:

 

1. Where are they?

 

2. What are they  doing?

 

3. Do you like  travelling?

 

II. Then show the students a picture of the  busy street. Listen to the recorder and match the pictures with the words in  the box. (SB, p116)

 

III.  Ask the students some questions:

 

1. Have you ever  got lost in a new place?

 

2. How did you find  your way later?

 

3. Did you use a  map or road signs to find your way?

 

IV.  Then ask the students to listen to a dialogue and do exercise 4 at page 116.

 
 

 

 

 

 

Presentation  of Listening

 
 

I. Tell the students they are going to  listen to a dialogue happened between Lily and John. Look at what’s  happening. Before listening, teach students how to use the words and  expressions in the box: railway station,     wait for, taxi…

 

II. Ask the students to listen again and  finish the choice questions about the dialogue at page 117.

 

III. Ask them to read the dialogue in  pairs.

 

IV. Ask the  students to act out the dialogue in pairs.

 
 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Listening  Practice

 

 

 
 

I. Help the  students learn the new words and expressions by reading aloud after the  recorder.

 

II. Ask the  students to read a short passage, which has several missing words.

 

III. Ask the  students to listen to the passage and fill in the blanks using the given  words in the box (SB, p118) while listening.

 

IV. Ask  the students to do exercise 5 at page 118.

 

V. Give students  some advices on listening skills, using the learning tips at page 117.

 

VI. Ask the  students to finish exercise 2 at page 122.
