Warming    up

I. Give the students time to look at the  picture at the first page of Unit 3. And discuss the following questions:

1. What kind of weather can you find in the  picture?

2. What can you do in such weather?

3. What kind of weather do you like?

II. Ask the students to listen to the  recorder and match the pictures with the words in the box. (SB, p36)

III. Ask the students some questions:

1. What’s the weather like in winter in  your hometown?

2. What do you usually do on rainy days?

3. What’s the weather like today?

IV. Then ask them to listen to a dialogue  and answer the questions:

1. What’s the weather like today?

2. How is the air?   

3. What does the girl hope?

4. What does the weather report say?

5. What do they think of the weather  report?

 

 

 

Presentation of Listening

I. Tell the students they are going to  listen to a dialogue about the snowy weather. Teach them how to use the words  and expressions in the box: lovely, already,   on the ground, go outside, snowman…

II. Ask the students to listen again and  finish exercise 3 at page 37.

III. Ask the students to read the dialogue  in pairs.

III. Then ask them to act out the dialogue  in pairs

 

 

 

Listening Practice

 

I. Help the students learn the new words  and expressions by reading aloud after the recorder.

II. Ask the students to read a short passage,  which has several missing words.

III. Ask them to listen to the passage and  fill in the blanks using the given words in the box (SB, p38) while  listening.

IV. Ask the students to listen again and  finish exercise 7 at page 38.

Speaking Practice

 

Ask the students to work in pairs and do  exercise 8 at page 38.

*Encourage the students to work in pairs to  finish the oral practice of exercise 1 at page 44 and exercise 5 at page 45.

Consolidation

Exercise 1 at page 42
