   Packing of Silk Stockings

XMr. Ross, a businessman from America,is talking about the subject of packaging with Mr.Li, the marketing manager ofa company in China.

RossGao  Li: L

Ross: What are your requirements, Mr. Li, as faras packaging is concerned?

Li: Well, as you know, we have definite ways of packing silk stockings forsea shipment. As a rule, we use polythene wrapper for each article, all readyfor shelf selling.

Ross: Good. A wrapping that catches the eye willcertainly help push sales. With keen competition from similar silk stockingproducers, the merchandise must not lonely be of nice quality, but also lookattractive.

Li: Right. We’ll see to it that the silk stockings appeal to eh eye aswell as to the purse.

Ross:What about the outer packing?

Li: We will pack them six silk stockings each with a different color in abox, ten boxes in a carton.

Ross: Can you use wooden cases instead?

Li: Why wooden cases?

Ross: I’m afraid the cardboard boxes are notstrong enough for sea transportation.

Li: Don’t worry about that. The cartons are lined with waterproof plasticsheets, and as the cartons are made of cardboard, they shall be handled withcare.

Ross: OK, but I am concerned that in case of damageor pilferage, the insurance company will refuse compensation on the ground ofimproper packing, or packing unsuitable for sea voyage.

Li: Well, we will use wooden cases if you insist, but the charge for thatkind of packing will be considerably higher, and it also slows down delivery.

Ross: Then, I will cable home immediately forinstruction on the matter.

Li: Please do. I will be waiting for your soonest reply.

Ross:I will call you up tomorrow. Goodbye, Mr.Li.

Li: Goodbye, Mr.Ross.
