I 段落朗读(请准备以下朗读的段落)
1. WTOhas taken the concept of tourism beyond a stereotypical image of“holiday-making”. The officially accepted definition is: “Tourism comprises theactivities of persons traveling to and staying in places outside their usualenvironment for not more than one consecutive year for leisure, business andother purposes.” The term “usual environment” is intended to exclude tripswithin the area of usual residence and frequent and regular trips between thedomicile and the workplace and other community trips of a routine character.
2. Asecond advantage is the opportunity for the tourist to make all his travelarrangements in one place at one time. The independent traveler often has to goto considerable trouble to put the different pieces of his trip together.Airline seats may not be available when he wants them, or he may not be able tosecure the hotel accommodations that he wants. Even when a travel agent makesthe arrangements, these difficulties still exist, but with the packaged tourthey are eliminated for the consumer.
3. Transportationhas always been linked to tourism. It is a component necessary to the entiretourism industry. History shows that, repeatedly, when there is a change intransportation, there is a change in the hospitality services that surround themeans of travel. With the evolution of the vast network of ancient Roman roadscame the need for snack bars at periodic intervals. With the evolution of theautomobile and the network of interstate highways came a proliferation of fastfood at highway exits.
4. A warm, sunny, dry climate is typically considered desirable by most tourists, especiallythose from cold winter areas, and particularly when associated with otherattractions such as beach, marine and mountain areas that provide opportunitiesfor recreation activities. Certain kinds of health resorts are also oftenlocated in warm, sunny and dry climate areas. Some types of popular touristactivities such as snow skiing and tobogganing require cold weather and snow, but preferably still clear skies.
5.Shopping is a significant activity and a type of expenditure for many touristsand must be considered as a possible tourist attraction as well as service. TheJapanese tourist market, for example, is well known for its high expenditure onshopping for goods to take home.
