一、课程开设的依据：《高等学校英语专业英语教学大纲》和《绵阳师范学院英语专业本科人才培养方案》。前者在大纲中明确规定《英语语法》是英语专业本科的专业技能课，选修课。对英语语法的要求是“英语语法课的目的在于帮助学生重点掌握英语语法的核心项目，提高学生在上下文中恰当运用英语语法的能力和动用英语的准确性，使学生对英语语法有一个比较系统的了解并能借助英语语法知识解决英语学习过程中的有关问题。本课程应指定学生有计划地阅读英语语法教材，探讨英语语言的结构，通过各种练习，牢固地掌握英语语法，提高运用英语的能力。 ”后者在培养方案中被列为专业主干课，开设的时间为大一上下学期，每周2节课，共计2*32=64学时，分2次考试，即英语语法I和英语语法II，共计4个学分。 二、实际开课的具体情况：《英语语法》开设的时间是大一上下学期，大一因新生报到、军训、公休假和期末复习，实际开可数为56节，即28周。由此，开课时间的不足，可以通过网络在线学习予以补充；也可作为学生的后续学习。 三、使用的主要教材：章振邦.《新编英语语法教程（第五版）》,上海外语教育出版社，2014. 四、网络在线课程的主要内容内容： 1.《新编英语语法教程》每一章节的PPT。 2.《英语语法》的教学大纲和考试大纲。 3.课程部分章节的word文档和视频。 4.2006年起专业英语四级考试中语法题的详细讲解（每年专四考完后添加当年讲解）。 5.《新编英语语法教程》的PDF和课本的练习的参考答案。 6.课堂上提出的思考题，学生解答，老师审查后上传共享。 7.学生在线提问，老师详细解答（即师生互动讨论）。提问解答不限年级和专业。 8.美文30篇的文档和录音及英语专业应读的近60本全英文小说。 五、网络在线课程和课堂教学：课堂教学是师生面对面的互动教学活动，具有时间地点的限制，网络在线课程是师生通过网上互动，学生自主学习和提问，时间地点自由。二者相互补充，为学生学习这门课程提供更好的途径。 六、网络在线课程与课程考试的关系：学生平时成绩得分方式包括：平时上课的表现+课后笔记+课后作业+网上学习。
本课程的教学以章振邦所编《新编英语语法教程》为蓝本，兼顾参考其他的国内外语法书（详见所列参考书目）。
具体的教学方法如下：
一、学生课堂学习和网上学习结合。课堂学习以老师精讲和课后练习结合，课后网上进一步学习巩固。
二、课堂教学老师既以课本为蓝本，但讲解又不局限于课本，即在课本的基础上进行高度概括，深入浅出。
三、课堂教学不仅仅讲解英语语法，还激发学生积极思考相关问题，归纳知识，从更高的角度看待学习，如情态助动词和基本助动词的语法功能的相似性和差异性。
四、课程讲解时，适当提出思考题，让学生对英汉语法进行比较学习，如英语情态助动词和汉语的能动动词的相似性和差异性。
五、课后完成相应作业，及整理归类所学知识。
六、有关学生学习的问题，不管简单还是深难，老师都会耐心人解答；提的地点可在课上，课后，或网上留言；提的问题可涉及到英语学习的各个方面。
