This course is the first semester in Microeconomic Theory to help students gain the basic knowledge about structures and roles of the markets. This course explores fundamental topics in microeconomic theory. We will build formal models which analyze behavior of consumers and producers. We will study the role of competitive markets in coordinating economic activities. We will derive conditions under which competitive markets generate an efficient allocation of economic resources. Analytical tools such as calculus and diagrams are indispensable. Topics covered in this course are essential for anyone intending to pursue further studies in economics.
