        又或许你有游历英美国家的计划，又或者你希望能提升自己的英语能力，那么这是一门适合你的课程。

        《英语国家概况》是一门集英语国家背景知识和英语语言知识为一体的英语专业必修课，是知识性与实用性相结合的英语专业基础课程。本课程是一门面向高职，英汉结合授课的文化类通识课程，旨在通过系统介绍英国和美国的历史、地理、政治、经济、文化传统，风俗习惯和语言发展，使学生对这些国家有充分的了解和通识。旨在提高你文化差异的敏感性、宽容性和处理文化差异的灵活性。同时，这还是一门实用性很强的文化知识课，通过线上课堂，线下阅读教材，参与课堂讨论和互动完成作业，丰富审美趣味，增强对西方文化的了解，扩大知识面，提升个人的跨文化交际能力以及英语的表达能力，本课程还配备一定量的音视频剪辑和阅读材料供大家选择鉴赏，适合高职专业英语及非英语专业学生学习。

        课程形式分为视频讲授和直播课两种。视频讲授由主讲教师担任，每周围绕一个主题，集中讲授一到两个专题，分解为多个知识点，以三至五段视频呈现；直播课程是对课程内容的补充，学生可以在直播间和老师进行实时互动。

        本课程分为两个阶段来完成，《英语国家概况》(一)(编号f1040121)，要求在第三学期完成，主要讲授英国、爱尔兰及澳大利亚和新西兰等四个主要英语国家即西欧和大洋洲的地理、人文特征、宗教、社会体制发展和阶层教育与文化等基本情况，包括社会各层面的发展和特征表现以及传统的风俗习惯等等，加深学生对文化信息的理解。此外还要求学生通过听讲、阅读、讨论等方式提高英语语言应用能力。教学的重点是帮助学生了解这些国家的政治、历史、地理、社会、文化、教育等概况；学习的重点在于广泛地了解和阅读,以每章节后面所列的重点问题和老师指出的重点作为重点学习和探讨的内容。难点在课文的前六章(英国部分)。

        第二阶段及第四学期主要讲授美国和加拿大等两个主要英语国家即北美洲国家的地理、人文特征、宗教、社会体制发展和阶层教育与文化等基本情况，包括社会各层面的发展和特征表现以及传统的风俗习惯等等，重点是要让学生养成不断联系当前实际以及密切关注国际局势的习惯，并能迅速准确地查阅资料，在储备丰富背景知识的同时，巩固和提高英语水平。难点是在跨文化语言运用过程中提高学生对文化差异的敏感性、宽容性和处理文化差异的灵活性，从而改善学生的跨文化语言的运用能力。课本及编号为《英语国家概况》(二)(编号f1040122)，重难点在课文的第八至十三章(美国部分)。

教学方法及学习起点

通过超星学习通APP教授英语国家概况在线课程，并通过大量的图片和音视频资料配合讲解，主要介绍英、美两国的社会与文化，涵盖地理、历史、政治、经济、教育、节日及文学等各个方面，满足学生在学好英语语言的同时，不断提升文化素养，提高多元文化意识和跨文化交际能力的需要。

本课程教学方法分为：

1、课堂讲授方法

1.1采用互动式教学，通过讨论激发学生主动学习的兴趣，培养学生独立思考、分析问题和解决问题的能力，引导学生主动自学获得自己想学到的知识。

1.2 采用多媒体教学与板书教学相结合，提高课堂教学信息量，增强教学的直观性。

1.3 采用情景教学：理论教学与现实生活或课堂模拟的情景相结合，培养学生应用所学专业知识，解决实际问题的能力，强化英语思维。

1.4 线上+线下混合教学：不仅是为了顺应当下防疫的要求，而且也是为了拓宽学生的视野、提高他们的兴趣和实际动手操作的应用能力，凭借超星学习通APP，线上消化课堂知识难点，完成相关练习和章节测试，线下根据每个单元不同的特征讲授知识点，讲解练习和测试中出现的难点。

2、随堂测验、作业与资料整理

围绕各章教学重点内容，安排随堂提问、讨论；布置一定数量的课后作业，强化对重要知识点的理解、熟悉和掌握；要求课后以小论文、简答题和读书笔记方式对所学知识进行整理和消化。

本课程预备知识为英语专业学生使用的文化通识课程。

授课目标及成绩要求

通过系统介绍英国和美国的历史、地理、政治、经济、文化传统，风俗习惯和语言发展，使学习者对这些国家有充分的了解。本课程旨在提高学生对文化差异的敏感性、宽容性和处理文化差异的灵活性，丰富审美趣味，增强对西方文化的了解，扩大知识面，提升个人的跨文化交际能力以及英语的表达能力。

课程考核方法

该门课程采用的考核方式为考查（百分制），开卷。平时成绩占50%，期末成绩占50%。
