《思辨英语1》以语言学、跨文化研究领域为学科背景，帮助学生在训练语言基本功的同时，引导学生对语言的本质、文化的内涵以及跨文化交际行为等进行较为深入的思考，在语言学习的过程中提高人文素养，培养思辨能力、跨文化能力和自主学习能力。
