Pathophysiology is a discipline that investigates the principles and mechanisms of functional and metabolic changes during the occurrence and development of diseases. Its main task is to reveal the essence of diseases and provide a theoretical foundation for their prevention and treatment. As a crucial "bridge discipline" facilitating the longitudinal integration of basic and clinical medicine, Pathophysiology aids medical students in understanding the structure, function, and metabolism of the human body in normal conditions. Furthermore, it enables them to comprehend the patterns of occurrence and development, as well as the intrinsic regulatory mechanisms of diseases or specific pathological processes. This knowledge forms a solid foundation for subsequent learning in clinical medicine courses and for clinical practice. Healthcare professionals, in their medical practice, often need to apply knowledge from pathophysiology to analyze symptoms, signs of diseases, and changes in laboratory test indicators, guiding and improving the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
