本课程是涉海高校英语专业高年级的专业方向选修课程。课程的目的在于培养学生阅读、欣赏、理解英语海洋文学原著的能力，了解英语海洋文学发展史，学会涉海英语表述方法和基本批评方法。通过本课程的学习以及海洋特色课程思政的开展，选课同学将了解英、美、澳等英语国家的海洋文学、文化与海洋史，掌握英语海洋文学中的重要作家、社会思潮等相关基础知识，能流畅阅读英语海洋文学作品，品赏其中的优秀典范，促进语言基本功和人文素质的提高，对未来中国海洋强国建设作出贡献。 In accordance with the curriculum for English majors in marine-orientated colleges, Sea Literature is set as an optional course for the senior undergraduates with the purpose of building the students’ ability in reading and comprehending sea literature in English language and knowing the history of sea literature as well as some fundamental critique practice. Students are expected to learn significant navigations, sea wars, overseas explorations, sea works and writers or poets in the history of sea literature. They are also expected to read works with proficiency and appreciate the beauty of language so as to promote their language aptitude, humanities, and a better understanding of marine culture. 本课程的思政目标 (1) 学习世界海洋文学所体现的广博包容开放的海洋精神，在新世纪国家大力发展海洋战略的历史框架下，促进海洋文化与海洋精神建设； (2) 理解并掌握世界海洋文学的历史发展。能够运用生态批评等知识，思考海洋生态平衡对人类生存的重要性； (3) 了解海洋和人类文明发展的关系，具备分析特定海洋文学文本内涵的能力,可以用海洋文学课程所传授的知识评价当下改革开放的意义； (4) 领会海洋的美学与道德隐喻，具备基本的文学审美的能力,可以用一些文学批评理论解读海洋文学作品；
