  • Pilatesa system of exercises designed by Joseph Pilates in the 1920s. It improves mentaland physical well-being, builds flexibility, and strengthens muscles throughcontrolled movements. Pilates exercises are done as mat exercises or withequipment to tone and strengthen the body. In addition, Pilates increasescirculation and helps to shape the body and strengthen the body's “core” (i.e.the deep, internal muscles of the abdomen and back). People who do Pilatesregularly feel they experience better overall health.

  • swing dancemost commonly known as a group of dances that developed with the swing style of jazzmusic in the 1930s and 1940s. While the majority of swing dances began inAfrican American communities, some developed in white communities.

  • jazz: a kind of music born inAmerica by combining European musical tradition and African musical tradition.It reflects the cultural diversity and individualism of this country. For onething, it absorbs characteristics from the music of various cultures. Foranother, its diversity leads to its emphasis on personal expression byimprovisation. Therefore, jazz musicians will interpret a tune in very individualways in order to seek diversity. They never play the tune in exactly the sameway twice. They may change the tune, chord or pace according to their mood andpersonal experience, interactions with other musicians, or even types ofaudience.
